Speed traps on Hwy 130
#11
For those reading who have never been on Highway 130, don't be too alarmed. "Busy" and "overcrowded" are relative terms. I'd estimate the hold-up to be about 5 mins per 10 miles, during peak hour.

I'm sorry if I have exceeded 5 posts today.

I have opened up a "Tag" section on my blog so that people can also make comments on the Highway 130 Project as it moves along to it's completion date in 2012 (hopefully)

Click Highway 130 and comment to blogs there or make other suggestions. (It's still an ongoing process... however, I don't want anyone coming to me later and saying they didn't have a chance to give input)

rbakker, have to say that it's more crowded now for sure - Tony and I drive home everyday leaving Big Island Toyota around 5pm...we usually get to Pahoa (Hawaiian Shores actually) about 5:40pm...sometimes (and I'm not sure why) we can sit on the Keaau Bypass for nearly 40 minutes just waiting to get up to around the Humane Society. On those days it's well after 6pm by the time we get home.

Oh, Carrie, how terrible for you! It takes you 40 minutes to go over 20 miles at the height of the rush hour? How can you bear it?! Wink

Man this is a tough room! Dang.[B)]

That's actually on a GOOD day. About 1/2 of the time it's more like 1 1/4 hrs. Still not as bad as the 405 in So. Cal.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I wonder if people know how to merge into traffic properly at al right there? Why it's always a "Cluster F**k" there is something else!. It's obvious that we need more lanes going into and leaving Puna.

Here is an anomaly for you!

PD was radaring coming up from 4 corners about 6:45 AM this morning. SB was lucky that the big old truck cant hit 55 till about the papaya farms past Green Mountain!

And SB420 said they were at Lava Tree a few minutes ago.

RADARING! Who would have thought????[}Smile][8D]

The County DOES NOT GET $$ FROM FINES in the District Court -- those go to the State.

Maybe, just maybe, someone is hearing the cries from the community about the maiming and deaths on Hwy 130!

In various forums including the PCDP and a current 'low priority to canabis' petition movement there has been a lot of heat put on the issue of how un-safe Hwy 130 is even as a County police fly around in a helicopter harassing the community, and how our tax $$ need to pay Police to protect life and property.

...maybe, just maybe, someone will hear and keep hearing...

Carrie, I'm afraid my contribution came out more snarky and less light-hearted than I intended. Sorry
