Exterior PTL lumber is not available!
#11
I know that Trex (the only established/reputable company) had at one point sold a structural lumber. It was ungodly thick and only came in white and a chocolate-like color. It was about 50% more expensive. I looked into it for redoing a deck in Leilani. As buzz mentioned, what't the point if the sub-structure is wood!?! I looked at it thinking that the retrofit of the deck (doubling exsisting joists!) was impractical, and that perhaps the heavier guage stuff could be used instead. This particular owner had a real bad mildew problem and I could understand wanting a synthetic surface decking.

I too have been frustrated by the lack of lumber here, both in selection and quality. I am looking into metal studs, and Castleblock.

Stop by some time if you'd like to see our Castleblock adventure. We will most likely go the metal stud route as well.

Call first, as it's gonna be crazy next 2 weeks. I've got to find a chance to call Josephine back and get up to the ranch also.
