Deep Soil
#11

As for knowing how deep the soil is, nothing beats a shovel to find out.

I dunno 'bout that- my most recent adventure with wielding a shovel in Puna strongly suggested to me that a backhoe probably beats a shovel! Wink

It is not our part to master all the tides of the world but to do what is in us for the succor of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule.

First tool for local conditions I bought was a jackhammer, that and a shovel works. When digging keep an eye on the layers. Out here in spots I have three alternating layers of soil and rock in a three foot deep hole
