Modular Homes Green
#11
Waynesb, What idea about the master closet did you find intriguing and that you want to try to incorporate?

I did't know one of her homes was built in an Oroville factory! Would have loved to see the process and am sorry it didn't take hold. While living in Portland Oregon, we contracted with Tuff Shed to do a garage, they do modular stuff. Designed to match an adjacent home built in 1914 it was a good job, roof pitch siding and all!

These homes don't have to be built all custom and or high end finishing. Reasonable local products can be substituted, even reclaimed resources. Just ideas.

There's a passageway behind the head of the bed, with both sides being closet space. I like it 'cause it's close, accessible from both sides, and doesn't take a big block out of the floor plan.

Apparently it's the Lotus that was at SF Green. Here's a spread: http://www.trendir.com/green/mklotus-sus...hom-1.html

The other one I saw is described here: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2005/05/...se_pre.php
My memory doesn't agree with the floor plan, though. That one was SIP construction, the first time I saw it. Just like Rob's Protech panels, but OSB instead of cement outer layers.
