Lojack for laptops
#11
Yes, my new Dell has Lojack coverage and Dell said you go straight to Lojack, not the police. But then once located, the police has to be involved correct? And then that's where the breakdown occurs...I hope I am alive when I can see a real working legal system here [Sad!][Sad!][Sad!]

Thanks for the responses. Good to hear of a case where it worked.

According to the Lojack website, if your laptop is stolen then step 1 is to contact the police, step 2 contact Lojack. Lojack then tries to get your laptop back using their team of ex-cops (so they say) who know what police want and need in order to go after the stolen goods. So, you don't have to contact the police with the location information, Lojack does.

It's not Lojack's place to go for prosecution, I would guess. Their first priority is to get the laptop back or otherwise they're out $1000 (if you have the premium service).

In case anyone is wondering, I don't work for Lojack or have shares in it or anything, I just want to know if it works. It sounds almost too good to be true, and the testimonials on their website look a bit hokey. I'm willing to give them a try but only if my laptop gets stolen will I know for sure if it works.
