From Mrs. oink:
Punafish, I can empathize with your issue with networking, but have found it very beneficial for me, although it can take time to establish trust among members in any networking group. Having visited several networking groups, both out of state and in state, they can vary widely. Each chapter (group) is different, and some are extremely strong, while others not so strong. One of the chapters I visited out of state, the oldest in that area, did not necessarily make visitors feel welcome, nor did I get the type of service expected from a fellow BNI member. I had visited because I had someone who needed help. The great thing is though, if others feel that way too, the member usually will drop out or not renew due to a lack of business from that group, allowing someone who is "trustworthy" and does a great job to take his/her place.
