Hawaiian Acres Problems
are you saying the County itself is not in compliance?

Placement of signs is by County ordinance; no ordinance authorizing placement of signs has been enacted, nor does it seem appropriate to simply hand signs out in hopes they will be installed.

There is a separate Code section which stipulates that County not provide support of any kind to a privately-owned road.

cfscott not a conspiracy but as kala points out there are set established requirements for sign placements. as well as set established regulation as to how there are to be installed and on what type of a pole . it is odd that a bunch of taxpayer paid for signs were just given to a private club for their own use.

"allegedly" -- we don't really know where the signs came from (if they exist).

That said, the signs will have no legal meaning unless County enacts an ordinance defining a given intersection as a "stop intersection" prior to (or concurrent with) placement of the actual sign.

mount in concrete filled tire so the signs are moveable

The signs would look really nice moved over next to my pool table....

Can you please link those numerous and established requirements and regulations? Again, it would really be great to be in compliance so any help is welcome.

Hoping that link worked. It's to a picture of the stop signs in question. LOL I love that there's a need to prove the existence of some signs to the same person that I have to now ask not to steal from the community.

I feel like you might be having a knee jerk reaction to something that's positive. Please take a moment, take some deep breaths, and realize that we are all living here together and need to make some positive changes. If you have real concerns with compliance, I urge you to schedule a meeting with the board and voice those concerns. You don't have to wait until the monthly meeting, board members are happy to meet with people during the rest of the month to address specific issues.

I downloaded Chapter 24, and also 23 in case. I'm having trouble finding this Section 24-8. These PDF's are mostly lists of locations of different traffic things. Is there a page number you can give me?

I just want County to stop jerking everyone around. It's ironic that they've chosen to hand out some stop signs to be installed on "private" roads while continuing to insist that private roads aren't eligible for any kind of publicly-funded support. Basically making up the rules as they go along.

However, the outcome is not affected by my opinion, so please, feel free to install the stop signs anywhere in the subdivision. After all, they were paid for with our tax dollars.

Transportation related signage is generally considered legal when it conforms to the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, or the MUTCD. It's pretty much universally accepted by the courts that privately placed and maintained traffic control signage that fall outside of that Manual guidelines are worthless.
