This topic is keeping me convinced about my concrete ideas. I saw very nice cement/mortar window sills and so on in Manila. Looked awesome with a nice paint job. Lots of great metalwork too. There is a lot of ways to set up wall and windows and so on to have airflow and sunlight. Wood is mighty nice though. Is anyone treefarming rot and bug resistance species on Big Island? There must be something like that going on somewhere. I bet there is some good protein in termites. Maybe they are the missing magic nutrient we need. Maybe they are saying the same thing about us. Hmmm maybe I better call it a night.

It was not what you said, but what was included and they way you said it. There was no need to say they might be trying to cheat you, a simple get a second opinion would have helped. As far as the "may be" sorry that is no longer a valid excuse as the courts have already ruled. "Maybe" is the same as saying "I believe" or "in my opinion" they are all buzz words attempting to get around the law in the eyes of the courts.
Main thing is there is no good reason to bad mouth a company unless its from personal experience. Think, how would you feel if you were an owner or employee of Veteran and came in and read this, I'm not, but I know them, and its just not right and NOT the ALOHA WAY. Take personal responsibility for your comments, this anonymous I can say whatever the hell I want in the internet is wrong.

So ourdoc is your real name? There is something that is a little hypocritical about hiding behind anonymity to criticize others for being anonymous!

Actually several thousand people who really know me in real life know me by the same name. In fact that name Ourdoc (which is also a nickname), came from the Actress Connie Sellica, who I worked with a few decades ago. So no, I'm not being hypocritical. using an online name is normal, not hiding.
The other thing that should be pointed out (back on topic), after watching documentary on termites last night, it proved the original statement is more than likely true. Steve asked why ants would go after something filled with wood fiber, because ants love water and the body of a termite is 85% water. It is a KNOWN thing that ants will invade walls to eat termites after tenting if you have colonies of ants nearby, and they will devour a live termite colony given the opportunity and numbers. Think about it, one scout ant crawls in and finds a huge amount of food (that wont fight back), the colonies were called. That is why what the OP was told is more than likely correct.

Now, that is really interesting, since the termite damage is less than I would have thought, but the house is most definately infested with ants. Maybe they've been eating the termites all along? There was a county tenant in my house prior to me buying it, and it hadn't been tented in at least 15 yrs. I am using all natural stuff to kill the ants (so far successful) and I bought professional roach bait for any baby roaches that hatch. My system slowly appears to be erradicating all the insects, but maybe a few ants around is beneficial somehow. I may just tent next year or something, just to be safe.
