Just who are "we" anyway?

I thought only closed-minded bigots said "all X look alike to me"....

until I moved here.

Apparently it works in reverse too: all white people look alike....

That was a great response, My Bald and chunky childhood friend and I are always being called the others name. I look nothing like him, I have hair and am a bit slimmer. The only thing we have in common is we are both fair skinned from Pahoa. I am really Irish, and Indian with about 16% Bask. I probably have plenty of reasons to take up Drinking haha. My wife is 100% Italian, thankfully our kids got plenty of her features.

So the vast majority here is haole. That's no surprise. The next question should be why is that?

Internet technology is itself "haole", here.

If you grew up here you don't need Punaweb, you already have friends and family to hang out with and to get answers to questions when they come up. People from other places don't have that resource, so they come to Punaweb.

After seeing some good documentaries on the genetic lineage of humans I decided that since we are really all one people I would begin identifying myself as "mixed race" on all government forms and any surveys which wish to categorize us all into neat little boxes, but those little boxes rarely reflect the reality or diversity of our heritages. If we all started calling ourselves "mixed race" then form makers would stop asking us which little box we belong to.

Im Viking-Irish-German-Choctaw-Southerner-Yankee. However I firmly believe that if I respect the Aina with enough Aloha for my fellow white transplants and drive a fuel efficient SUV that I will die a Hawaiian with honors. As we all know skin color and cultural background does not matter, all that matters is the way people judge you in various collective groups. Although I am also thinking about becoming an Eskimo, can't decide yet. I am for sure not white though cause that would imply a lot of privilege and guilt and I would not feel worthy to live.

I am white whoa am I white. My legs have barely seen the sun in years. It is better to not be so white in the sun. When I visit I have to be careful I do not sunburn way too much. I am eager to enjoy being warm. My true heritage is born and raised in frozeass Alaska.
I am very appreciative of this website as an intro and ongoing news and thought forum. My place in Hawaiian Acres is calling to me.
