Hey ericlp, maybe one day all the born and raised fireman, policeman, state n county workers, farmers, ranchers, hunters, fisherman and surfers like myself can gather together and meet up so you can call us clowns and retards to our face. Instead of behind a screen. Just using the word retard shows what kind of person you are. How disrespectful to special needs children and their parents. Its a WAY OF LIFE HERE IN HAWAII ISLAND. We use our trucks for fishing, farming, hunting and wave riding. Most of the places we go, YOU HAVE TO HAVE OVERSIZED TIRES AND LIFT, it's the only way to get there!!! Time to wake up!! Bra!

Do you or DesertEagle disagree with regulations regarding the wheel width not exceeding the wheel well?

going to get a safety check and they slap the skinny tires on there rig

This is why the "new, improved" safety check system includes pictures of the vehicle at time of inspection: people can't claim "but it passed safety like that" when they get pulled over for whatever.

That said, I put this problem pretty far down the list, after the roads, lack of civic planning, fire ants, green harvest, etc.

My truck is totally stock and under manufacturer warranty, can't make modifications or it voids the warranty. And to answer your question Yak, no I don't disagree with the regulations.

can't make modifications or it voids the warranty

You might be happy to know that a manufacturer cannot void the entire warranty due to modifications. They can only void the warranty as it applies to parts that break due to the modification itself.
In other words, putting in a new sound system cannot be used as the "warranty is void" excuse if the part that breaks is unrelated to your installation and use of the new sound system. (I used to work in a dealer service department)

If you install a lift and bigger tires and start breaking u-joints, then they can void the warranty on the u-joints due to the lift and tires contributing to the u-joint failures, as they were not designed to operate at the new angles that you subjected them to.

If it does exceed the wells you need fender flares. Inspectors only allow about 1 inch past wheel well. When I drive on a gravel road, I go slow. If someone is tailing me, I let um pass. Would be smart to back off a ways if the guy or gal has no consideration.

Moreover it's asking for something I doubt the topic starter wants too..

If there's an abundance of visible violations easy to find than there's not enough patrol, or cops to balance it..

And, I know from personal experience, getting action in a timely manor with the HI puna district police is tough. They plenty busy and pushing an investigation followed with the paperwork forward can take weeks. And that's just to get it filed. After filed ya got another month or so for the county to decide whether to carry forward or dump it.. Then to the prosecutor's office, which can be dumped too. weeks to months delay where they are overloaded so much, they've got to cut those they don't think are a sure bet. They are already overwhelmed with the business of policing the region.

The courts overwhelmed too.

So, if ya wanna solve it, extend a ballot to double the amount of cops, double the size of courthouse, personnel, judges etc. , pay for it with increased taxes, and get all happy.

You're dammed if ya do and dammed if don't.

I'm all for extreme lifts and tires!

Just keep in mind that the extent of the lift is in direct proportion to the degree of insecurity about sexual organ size and functionality.
