Thanks for keeping it local Rob

Hey HOTPE, Thanks for always being eloquent even if you disagree, you have great flair. Your mastery of the English language is enviable! I do agree that being moderator of this blogsite must be rough. The amount of assumptions, hyper reactions, finger pointing, name calling, one lined criticisms and projections one has to wade through in order to have one semi decent conversation is intense. I was actually glad Rob shut it down as I was getting buzzed by a sour puss. Eric1600's post about Contrails made it almost worth it. I will let y'all get back to your gadgets and navel gazing and look elsewhere to discuss "futuristic" topics. I thought there was at least one astrophysicist in the bunch.

PaulW, you visited my thread multiple times to complain and are calling me a stalker? If you don't like the subject matter, why not just step off? It's that easy. Take a deep breath and look away. I visited your one post to see what and who I was dealing with, glad to see your not criminally insane.

L-Dude, one person looking at my post 200 times....that's creepy. Thanks for the heads up.

Kirt. Calling Gypsy a Troll (on my thread that got shut down/unrelated to anything as she had not participated in the conversation) when what she consistently posts about is child endangerment also looks really, super Creepy. (Gypsy, assuming you're a woman and Mom because, well, what man would post about stalkers at public schools or the rape of a young local woman by a repeat offender placed in a position of power through nepotism?)

Kenney, sorry to offend, you are a sweetheart and I appreciate your kind comments, but honestly the Boomer generation, a large generation, has had the reins for quite a while, left no opening positions for the tiny Generation X, skipped over for Millenials who have all the Boomer advantages but none of the experience of either other. Really look at today's realities and ask yourself, could the Boomers have done better? There's a vitriolic article in yesterdays Boston Globe about it that came up on my news feed. I'm being very nice by comparison. Most of my friends are Boomers or Millenials and most of them agree with above statements. A lot of X'ers perished young.

To those of you who can dish it out but can't take it, you might try being less intolerant from the onset yourselves, or if you're going to lob an bomb, at least follow up with a reason, ie debate. If you want to get into a B-slapping fight, like we are all back in high school, this is where I went to high school so I am well trained. Some of us can laugh off doing the dozens, other more presidential ones can't.

Since this is such a "Local" HPP site, was there any sad memorandum about the young man who died recently picking opihi down at the bottom of Maku'u? Are any of the people determining what is and isn't Puna news actually from here? This is a valid question because anything that might have the remotest chance of relating to weather and ocean current anomalies IS news here. Some of us actually interact with the ocean and forest almost daily, as a way of life, and deserve the chance to examine anything that may be effecting or endangering that way of life, or our food sources via the ocean or soils. 75% of the coral reefs dead, Forests dying, loved ones sick all the time. If there is even the remotest possibility of cloud seeding with toxic nano-metals (such as aluminum) happening we should be allowed to discuss it. Burying heads in sand only leaves asses exposed.

I realize the ongoing threat from Fukushima is the likely culprit for most of today's problems but outside the box ideas are less grueling since there is nothing any of us can do about that. 40 years optimistic estimate for clenup but since they can't actuall locate the reactor....Groan. But hey, let's go tell ourselves these things have nothing to do with our empty water catchment. Skip tra- la....everything's fine.

Rob Tucker, Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to post on your blog site. It's been an adventure but I concede, this may not be the best community for me. If you are going to erase my account please also take down my Ohia Ash Report. If you want my outside perspective to remain here, however, I'm glad to share it, not otherwise.

Best regards.

You really are a character! Another conversation that we've had way too many times here. Please use the search functions if you're interested.
(And please invest in a spellchecker.)

By the way, when did someone die (recently) picking opihi down Makuu?? Really, I had not heard. When was that?

Sexism, ageism, all very endearing features.

Hang in there Ohiagirl, you seem to attract a familiar fan base. PWeb is a good place to find your local scoops and Puna living info. Rob, Obie and others do a great job most of the time.

By the way my wife and I both posts here on PW at times, That may be why the He/She confusion. I posted the Pahoa stalker and DLNR Beach rape case links because they involved under-age young girls in public places in Puna. Our Keiki in Puna should not be Victims, They are our greatest resource and deserve better in many ways. jmo

In northern Japan, it's a problem. In Puna, the effect on ionizing radiation levels is too small to be detected.

If you are concerned about plutonium contamination, there is no need to look to the faraway shores of Japan. Back in the bad old days of the Cold War, our nearby Johnston Island was the scene of multiple nuclear detonations... some on purpose, some...not.
