I have found that if you hit the Shower light, Hilo-bound, betw. 8 and 8:30 am, you will find a mile-long backup on 130. I'd like the 130 traffic to have longer green. If you happen to hit a green light, you're in like Flint, but if you happen to hit a red, it's a 7-minute issue. Can't find the sweet spot yet on timing my trips to town if they're during morning commute.

This is exactly what I said would happen. Traffic signals do not make for better traffic flow. They only make it worse as they end up bunching up the traffic, by slowing it all down.

There are much better alternatives to traffic signals. Too bad our traffic "engineers" don't understand them.
