I got an email from Hawaiian yesterday for Oakland to HNL RT. Pretty decent considering our Oak -> HNL cost $420 one way the day after the ATA debacle !
Oakland - Honolulu
From $420* Roundtrip

When you add the $150.00 roundtrip from Hilo to Honolulu with Hawaiian its the same as the American roundtrip from Hilo.

for me time in transit is almost a bigger factor than price. Right now the only way in to my airport (sna) is through Seattle, Vegas, Oakland etc
much as I hate LAX..... getting there from hilo in 8 - 9 hours has some value. its about the same money as a one way car rental (national is good with one ways) to Kona and about the same time... the kicker for me is, Hilo airport is way cooler than Kona airport - grin

Cat - That would make things so much easier for a visit, yeah? No LAX and traffic over the 405...dream on.
Some of the flights and "bargains" they are offering sound great, but couldn't get one to fit when our daughter comes...dang. I figured at least we'd have her here for sure (knock on wood).
