Harry Kim is out....Mitch Roth received the most votes for mayor.
Mayoral Candidates and the General Election

G.iligan won the District 4 House seat. Maybe in the future our island will have Gilligan for Mayor.

Actually, Greggor Ilagan won the State House of Representatives seat for District 4.
Mitch Roth did indeed get the most votes for mayor. Now he has to face Ikaika Marzo in a runoff. This could turn into a referendum on the TMT, and should be an interesting race. Roth is already talking about economic redevelopment for the Big Island in the wake of the pandemic induced collapse of the tourist industry. Despite my opinion that Roth was not the greatest prosecutor, I plan to vote for him. Marzo's opposition to the TMT is a deal breaker for me, but he also does not have anywhere near the level of management or administrative experience needed to run the county.

Marzo... does not have anywhere near the level of management or administrative experience needed to run the county.
I agree. He ran The Hub in Pahoa during the 2018 lava flow with competence and skill, but I don't think it was enough experience to run an entire county. Roth gets my vote without reservation. Harry ran his mayoral campaign like he managed the the Mauna Kea Access Road protest. Sit back, wait, see what unfolds, and a long, long time later nature takes it's course. Unfortunately the protest and Harry's lack of a clear directive cost taxpayers a fortune. Harry's campaign had few out of pocket expenses. Thank for your many years of dedication to Hawaii County, Mr. Kim, but now it's time for your well deserved retirement.

I got my packet, filled it out and mailed it before the 6th, like they said in the packet. When I went to the site, all my info is listed correctly, but it said: "Status: Mail Ballot Packet Not Created"

The paper that came with the ballot said to "mail by the 6th". I guess with the way the post office is, it could have been delayed.
Here is what the Office of Elections told me: "I apologize for the inconvenience you experienced while utilizing the Ballot Status Portal. The online tool has been reset to prepare for the General Election, which may account for the portal stating that a mail ballot packet was not created for you. You may contact your County Elections Division directly for phone assistance to inquire about the status of your Primary Election ballot. Please visit the County Elections Divisions page for the phone number to your local elections office." I have a feeling I know what will happen if I call them...
