Yeah, that "Acres area" at mid-elevation has fared pretty well so far it seems. HE got HPP sorted for now, but Beaches went down in the meantime. Parts of Hamakua and Kohala out as well. Crews out playing whack-a-mole in the rain upon rain.
ETA: Doh - spoke a moment too soon - 4 rd to 40th out now too according to HE.
Video from Zuckbook showing power lines arcing on 8 Road in between C and D Roads.

I heard a tree crashed on the lines somewhere on Moho Rd (8 Rd) in Hawaiian Acres, knocking out power.

Nice to see it has stayed pretty well South of the island. Power went out a few times here in the lower reaches of Leilani but never lost our trusty Hawaiian Tel fiber. Always have your ONT and router on a UPS backup system and if you run your cameras via POE (power over ethernet) is possible to keep them powered for hours with a UPS for the POE system as well.

Glad it's all working out for you too. IYKYK

According to my “unofficial” official grade school rain gauge in the approximate area of E and 7 Roads in Hawaiian Acres shows that from 8AM yesterday to 8AM today, we are at 12.75 inches.
Be interesting to hear what the rain totals have been for Volcano area (once power is restored) as apparently they saw some of the heaviest rain.
https://www.hawaiianelectric.com/safety-...outage-map Total outages: 64 Total customers impacted: 13814 Power outages more widespread this morning - extensive outages all along Hamakua, Kohala/Hawi, Kawaihae, also in S. Hilo, as well as Pahala, Naalehu, HOVE, all effected now as well, with Highway 11 closed at multiple points. https://bigislandnow.com/2024/08/24/trop...st-hawaii/ Civil Defense Map is decent for various current road closures, including N. Kulani and assorted roads in Hawaiian Acres & Orchidland. FMITYEWTK

I saw 17" claimed in Ainaloa, 16" in Hawaiian Acres. |
