Dinner Cruise okay in Hilo Bay?
#21
Thanks for the input and Ill try to answer some questions and clarify some details.

First off we plan to provide as high quality experience as possible whether the sun is raising out of the sea from the east, a breathtaking sunset over Mauna Kea, or an intimate dinner party during a puna drizzle out in the Bay looking back at the Downtown Hilo lights (the boat is 80% covered with canvas the other 20% has clear vinel to protect when weather arises.)

As for the food prep and service Im glad to inform all of yur that the food will be prpared in a commercial kitchen by a licensed chef who will also be serving the food during dinner sevice and serving you bererages of your choice including: water, fine wines, beer, juices, soda, and chamgange, sorry no liquer folks seem to make the deal differ.

As for the price i think it fair but I guess Ill see. I plan to offer a locals discount and a 10/20 dinner pass for regular customers

Theres many reasons why I feel people will enjoy this evening experience out on the water especially since were not asking for 200 people were only planning to service 16-30 max.

We hope to begin serving small kind breakfast on our waterfall tour to malua Gulch and back @ regular price $99 L
Kamaaina$89 . Great chance of seeing whales and dolphins on this trip along the 50 waterfalls up the coast. Experiencing over 20 miles of remote coastline with stops in magestic Onomea Bay and Hakalau Gulch to relax & enjoy a bit.

Anyhow thats whats on the plate: )

The enterprise does not exist that some people will not have objections to.
I wish you the best of luck with your business venture.
The queen and I will be on the Island in exactly two weeks, and we will certainly give you a booking (the Hamakua Falls deal looks fun).
The spelling and grammer on your site does suck, let's just call it Island style.

Shane, I admire your entrepreneurship. With your persistence and daring, something is bound to happen.

It seems like an unusual idea to me but entrepreneurial spirits often run into resistance initally, only to be proven to be right about a market later on.

I think the biggest problem would be rain. Doesn't it rain like hell on Hilo Bay? Hilo is famous for it. Singing in the rain, okay....laughing in the rain....cool...cruising on the bay in the rain. Try us.

Shane I agree with Glen, entrepreneurship is valued quality. Without it we be in the dark ages. When we would vacation in the islands we would frequent businesses like yours. Even if you only get tourist, what a good Idea. Hope it works out for you. We try to send our visitors your way.

i find no comfort in this attempt to make money either. your pricing is outragous!!!! Anybody who doesn't,...well I got some ocean front land in the Mojave I'd like to sell you!

Yes, I agree to have one's own business is a blessing, but not at the expense of the surrounding community! I know, in your heart this isn't a good idea. Why else would you put your business idea to the forum? If you're looking for overall approval, may I suggest Konaweb! That side of the island is already saturated with "fly by night entrepreneurs", they won't even notice yet another price gouging business trying to suck the life out of the community.

If you wonder why I'm so against your business ideas Shane, let me explain. The past 18 years of my life I have worked as a Waikiki Beachboy. I've watched as cruise businesses came and go. Each and everyone of them left some kind of a negative impact on the community because of their business practices. What makes you think you're any different? Before my venture to Oahu, I was raised in Lahaina, and even worked on several boats over the years. But after watching the negative impact these boats have on our shorelines I cannot back your business efforts. Especially with your prices, it 's rather obvious you're in it for the money first, and then everything else is second nature!

For those who agree with these prices because they paid equal or more in Waikiki...I'm sorry...they saw you coming!!

I'm sorry, but your boat in Hilo Bay is gonna stand out like Dog's balls! Let me tell you, "Dog's Balls" is not my idea of "Eye Candy", but an "Eye Sore".

I was under the impression Kaikodo closed because of the issues with the fights at night.

Personally, I'm ready for a cheap, crowded booze cruise with plenty cheap pupus and "feeding the fish after", how entertaining! Now I bet there is a market for that! Have a bouncer to throw misbehaving imbibers overboard, (more fish food)!!!

Hey! Maybe we can retrofit the old supper ferry into a booze cruise? Looks like it isn't going to happen anyway...

Disappointing that it looks bad for that business but would be great for hilo! Just think how many people and party's you could have on one of them boats....

Okay, I've got an idea Shane. (Probably more than one idea, but I will spare you the other one). In Memphis they have these vehicles called "Ducks". They are basically military vehicles that can go on land AND water. They use them for tours, and they take you on land and water! So, how about you put a "Duck" somewhere in Fern Acres, drive over to the lava (it's all terrain) and then down into Hilo Bay for Dinner (take out from Cafe 100), with some guy playing the ukulele and a half naked girl (or guy for special groups) for about $600!!!!!

I think you would turn a profit.

Glad I could help.
