No, I think it can be very localized. We have a house in HPP on 22d off Makuu that has quite a few mosquitoes (low lot and trees next door) and another on 29th off Paradise that is higher and open where I have never been bothered by mosquitoes.

Just had to tell somebody -- went garage sale-ing in HPP today and got a Mosquito Magnet, brand new, sans propane tank, for $20! Couldn’t believe it. The lady said it belonged to a neighbor who paid $500, never used it, and was getting rid of everything since her husband died. I'm not sure of the model but it still has the plastic wrapping on it, looks like they just took it out of the box and that's all. My neighbor is loaning me a propane tank -- I'll let you know how it works.
too soon old, too late smart
I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top.

Lin I have a neighbor that just returned his to Home depot for full refund as it didn't work in his yard, after 28 days. He is a mosquito banquet unto himself and desperate.
Lew P. sometimes by your questions I'm curious if you have ever been on the island of Hawaii? Just wondering and if not when are you going to visit? Believe me there will be some rain, some bugs and lots of fun! LOL mella l

Try rubbing the leaves of cuban oregano on your skin. Works as well as bug spray. Grows pretty in hanging pots too!

I'm a mosquito magnet. Maybe I could turn it into a business. If I visit some friends of mine and there is a mosquito in the house, they just put me in the middle of the room and sure enough in less than 3 minutes the mosquito will try to land. Hey guys, I do house calls.
No just kidding! My problem with those gas magnet thingies is that they attract mosquitos from over 1 mile away or something. What if I cross their way when they fly towards the magnet. I don't like the idea. I like the idea of repellents much better, although i have not come across a working device. I also tried those sound generators that are supposedly repelling mozzies - big "as seen on TV" BS. I always check my screens and keep a couple of fans at the door. The mosquitos are too light to fly against the air pressure, so the last three years I only had one mosquito doing the matrix trick and coming inside the house. michael www.punaguide.com |
