Aspartame IS poison. It can send me to the emergency room - or at least want to go there. I can tell within 20 minutes if I've ingested it by mistake. When I went to a gastroenterologist for IBS, he said, "do you drink diet sodas? They're usually the culprit." I told him I didn't drink them, never have, but when I went back to the office, I realized I was eating a LOT of sugar-free breath savers. With yup, aspartame. Stopped, and so did the problems. I had read once that aspartame turns into formaldehyde in your system. I don't believe it, but it sure feels like SOMETHING bad. Given my bad reaction to Nutrasweet/aspartame, I wont' even try any of the newer fake sugars. Give me the real stuff any day.

Silver's right about RummySpawn (asspertaine). None of my counterculture, Puna pals touch the stuff. Why can't them hippies have more faith in our nation's loss leaders investments in our futures at the great market of life? Howevah, maybe dey right?

On the other hand, the Feldster would never give us da shibai, eh? Wink At least, that's what the Gohan Lady who panhandles in front of Malama told me and since they go way back, moving mountains, she should know.

Since I moved here I have switched to Meadow Gold regular yogurt, which has no artificial sweetener. Believe me, this has made the Hawaiian air quality so much better. I have never read any medical article that says these sweeteners can give you tremendous gas as you gut tries to digest them.
Peace and long life

Nancy's yogurt all the way - nothing bad in there, all good - it's at Island Naturals, Malama and Foodland. YUM.

It's great! I know large people who drink it every day.

I'd like to relate a Puna specific story.

Since moving here from Oahu, (where I'd lived for twenty years), my wife and I have been introduced to three life changing, (for the better), practices, by Puna friends.

Over the last five months, I've lost thirty pounds, without dieting or ingesting corporate chemical garbage or dieting in any way, shape or form.

I did it by drinking a gallon of pure, purified, Puna rain water a day (thanks to our dear friends Cindy and Larry at Angelfarms.com) and eating at least two out of three, raw food, vegetarian meals a day, (thanks to our equally dear friends, Lisa and Vince, (the coconut guy), for introducing us to raw foods). The other meal each day, is whatever I want.

The other two things, although not germaine to the topic) are Chi Gong and Larry and Cindy's Angelfarms internal cleanse, which we do monthly, (maintainance). All gifts from moving to this very special place.

And thanks to our Puna rainfall, I now grow much of our own, vegetarian food, plus more to share with our friends.

Mahalo Puna!
