Here's a story on the "home" that Johnny made that was destroyed by fire just prior to this tragic event. http://www.hawaii247.com/2011/12/21/fire...ay-dec-21/

That's the property that he owns.

We passed by the lot this morning just after the d-y-n-a-m-ite blast and there were some guys there taking the attached lean-to shed apart. Then, when I came back home into the subdivision a tow truck and a few people were there; it looked like the truck and the container are going.

The for sale sign is still there on the container; just really faded.

ETA: Fire burns Orchiland Home around the same time http://www.hawaii247.com/2011/12/07/fire...ing-dec-7/

And a fire in a relatively nice neighbor, right in town, just for equalization in that, this doesn't just happen in our hood: http://www.hawaii247.com/2009/08/23/fire...n-kaumana/

Thank for the links and looking after the hood! I haven't been keeping up lately. The Kaumana article listed no cause and didn't say investigation pending so even reporting can vary neighborhood to neighborhood.

After driving around a few neighborhoods I have to say Eden Roc seemed quite nice compared to some (HA had terrible roads and a number of areas that felt pretty dodgy - apologies to HA residents, just the impression I had on the 5 or 6 roads I was on). BTW, what's the deal with the enormous KAPU signs on some properties, don't simple No Trespassing signs do the job?

Kapu is essentially "no trespassing" in Hawaiian.
Assume the best and ask questions.

I understand, Rob, but I was more wondering why it needs to be in 4 foot high writing on large panels made of old metal roofing material instead of a simple sign.

Simple sign costs money.
