Yeah it may totally rot and be a soggy mass of pulp by the time she comes back to use it but she probably had fun and learned allot in the process. It's her life she can do what she wants with her money and time and she can post it on the internet if she wants as well. I found that some of it gave me allot of ideas. I would never choose a lot like that to build on but she bought it sight unseen. Maybe next time she can take what she learned from this project and improve it, at least she did something. When this little house becomes unlivable she can tear it down and start over.

I agree, I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade. I did a similar thing at my place (small house, small budget), but after living here for almost a decade. I built to avoid rain, mold, rot, etc. alls I was sayin was the framing looked a little odd, but I guess the code warriors on here know best.

It doesnt need to be built to building codes. her tiny house sits on a trailer frame, so therefore its not a house. Its under 600 square feet, so it still doesnt need a building permit.
I dont see the big deal.

Kander, the video poste3d shows her buiding a post & pier structure, no trailer frame & the "tree house"(actually a bedroom) is raised up on 12' piers, so no way would a trailer be a good choice for her "tree house"
In this county, you are requested (well required is more true, but the reality is most people feel it is a request) to have a permitted structure when it reaches a certain size, and a structure on those 12' piers would need a permit... if she believed in everyone playing by the rules... hopefully she will not mind when overs do not play by the rules when it comes to dealing with any issues she may have in the future
(That is just the was I was raised, you treat everyone & everything you do in the same way you would want others to treat you.... so if you try & sneak by something... well, then you are a sneak...

A jurisdiction can make a more restrictive ruling, but not a more "relaxed" ruling. The Building Code allows a 120 square foot structure (10x12), with a 12 foot maximum height. Slope of roof may be "squared off" in measurement (think cube size). Plumbing and electrical, if desired, need permits though. Her concept is pretty cool, but to clear out a lot and build a structure on a whim (fly in, fly out) is not my idea of proper use of land or resources. She is also giving loose reference to those that read her post that land is cheap here, they don't care (the County), so come on over and destroy some land. If the building department is busy chasing violators, it takes the time away from those that do play by the rules in wanting to create a balanced, not uniform though, (think setbacks, for instance) parcel with a home of their dreams. On a side note, why do people completely clear cut their lot and cinder it to live in the "jungle" they so desired?

She told too many people, got too many people involved and it is too remote. That place will be stripped clean in a couple months.

I dont think it matters. I think she is trying to promote herself in a television show fashion. I wish her luck. perhaps discovery network will pick her up.

It looks pretty, but there is a bed, plumbing and electric in it so it definitely needed a permit.didn't see the cost mentioned anywhere (just skimmed the pictures). And it's looking a little top heavy to be just sitting on blocks.
