rob, i have just been reconnected. i have 'dish' but its actually the same as exceed/wild blue ->via sat company. we now get 10gb during the day but now only 10 off peak instead of unlimited. it has cost us an additional $100 to reconnect so thats $300 down the hole with no apparent recourse. are the sites you mention the same kind of thing? how much is 10gb worth? is that now how they can stop us watching stuff direct from the net? much aloha

I don't know the answer to your question. I have no difficulty watching a movie or hour episode and have never experienced any connect/reconnect issues. I am with Oceanic on a wireless home system.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Satellite internet has a data cap - so your 10gb is probably your data allowance for the entire billing cycle. Which is like watching 2-3 movies. Cable has unlimited data so they can stream endlessly with no issues. Essentially - cable is god and satellite is crap. I should know - I spent 2 years on satellite.

Bittorrent (and others) are "presumed evidence of infringement" despite having many other lawful uses. VPN services provide an encrypted transport so that the provider can't tell what you're doing. Neither solves the data cap issue.

Upgrading to (expensive) commercial service from an ISP that is not also a content provider solves both problems.

Moving out of Hawaiian Acres is pretty much the underlined point here.

LMAO. ok so i am going to remain 'connectivity challenged' then LOL. someone did say something about a new tower in fern acres though i don't know that that will help, and i suppose change will eventually catch up with us. it would be a small price to pay for the simple experience of living as i do if it actually was a small price, but its LOADS of dosh and i still don't get any service. its like burning money every month. i spend more on communication services that don't work than i used to spend on cigarettes, and i don't think the cigarettes were as bad for my blood pressure! still, new connection, albeit temperamental, at least enables me to type on a real keyboard instead of trying to manipulate my not-so-smart phone. so i'm happy Smile

Does wild blue/excede not offer unlimited gigs at night anymore?

I dont know about wild blue - but ive never had much luck with either voip or streaming video using satellite - Has something to do with the lag time due to distance traveled and the way satellite handles packets I believe.
