It's been that way for a very long time. I suspect that might be the reason for the loaded comments on that site, but that's just my opinion. You have to be quite determined and patient to post something there these days.

The slow down in BIC is due to the server side checking for malware in the comments. It started doing that after the major infection of the server it was running on. It started happening over two years ago. There is some way to inject trojans into the comment section of Wordpress. With Chrome interfaced with malware protection, there will be a warning pop up before the malware can install itself. Internet Explorer will just go ahead and let the malware run.
