I use the self checkout at Safeway. That way "I" control every item being scanned and make sure the discount is taken. If it doesn't show up..I immediately get the attendant to correct it. It may take a little longer but I usually get the total price I'm looking for.

Every time you order something online you are subsidizing profit for the company you just patronized because you, the consumer, have replaced the secretaries and data-entry clerks of bygone days. Ditto for self-serve gas stations. I'm sure we could think of many more ways we're being put to work as consumers.
