Is there supposed to be enough lithium (never mind rare earth minerals or the fossil fuels to mine them) for billions of anything? I must be missing something...

batteries being DC wall sockets and helco being AC ...the system would require chargers and inverters ...and the resultant costs of that equipment and charging and inverter energy loses, upkeep etc .... inverters fail a lot a weak link.

A good start ....but a long way from being an out of the box solution imho

Our friends at Hardy selling a 13,000 watt lead acid battery bank at $5600.00 outright - no lease required

lead acid batteries can be endlessly recycled into new lead acid batteries....

lithium batteries were the bane of the dreamliner design - some argue we are not out of the woods yet

lead acid batteries will accept higher charge rates --- boil of electrolyte if over charged

Lithium Ion batteries catch fire or explode if overcharged

well known facts - there is nothing new here ....just a stock play imho.

Toyota is working on a hydrogen fuel cell system that I believe is much more revolutionary ....using solar or grid to produce hydrogen to power both home and or car ...

It, in my opinion, has a better chance of eliminating the need to be connected to the grid completely.

My current battery bank of eight 6-volt golf cart batteries arranged in series for 220 amp-hours at 48 volts works out to 11,000 watt-hours nominally. Lets cut that in half assuming I limit myself to 50% depth of discharge. I can drive to costco tomorrow, get my new batteries, and have them hooked up and running by tomorrow evening, for less than $900 and that includes $40 for gas. Compare that to $3,000 plus shipping, plus whatever upgrades I would need to my charge controller and inverter, for a 7,500 watt-hour battery bank. Not saying it's a bad thing but it'll be a while before I get my first battery pack, just as it'll be a while before I get my first electric vehicle. I am currently driving, quite happily, a 16 year old vehicle that I fix myself.
