Imported Dengue case
#31
Wow. I am just blocks away. There is a river that flows through HPP to the ocean , indicated by Mango trees. It's wet year round. Not much can be done but move or use repellent. I don't want to live anywhere else, so my choice is made...
CD gave us "Mosquito bits" to use in ponding areas and we empty everything that holds water daily. (Except the water tanks)
Living is risky. It always has been. To me and mine, life in Hawaii is well worth the risks.
G69, mahalo for your efforts to inform and protect the neighborhood. Perhaps DOH will take a page from your book...
Take care everyone! Hope you and yours have a safe holiday weekend!

I can confirm that a person on 20th near Maku'u contracted a strain of Dengue off island (Dominican Republic, I believe). I can also report that he immediately went to hospital when he presented symptoms and Vector Control came to the house and treated the yard and the house THOUROUGHLY and quarantined him, and he has stuck to his quarantine. So, if you go to a tropical place off island and come home presenting Dengue-esque symptoms, do exactly as this guy did and get to the hospital. It's been contained bc he acted quick. Aloha
