Police Make Pot Patients Give Up Their Guns
#31
Somebody told me this week that if you carry a baseball bat in your car, you must also have a mitt and a ball. Otherwise, it's considered a weapon. Not sure if it's true, but if it is, we might need to get a mitt and ball.
I wonder if you carry a machete do you also need a truckload of Papayas?

Looks like it was all a big mistake. News now saying law will not be enforced. New Honolulu police chief Ballard did not authorize letter. Kalakoa you can now make sarcastic post about selective enforcement.

So they are willing to ignore the Supremacy Clause when it comes to pot being illegal, but are more than willing to use Federal law (a liberal-leaning a 9th Cir. ruling)as an excuse to grab guns.

Public announcement that "law will not be enforced" isn't really "selective".

ignore the Supremacy Clause when it comes to pot being illegal

Much better example of "selective enforcement", here -- dispensaries are illegal under the letter of Federal law, but that's okay because they pay license fees to the State.

if you carry a machete

Just make sure the machete has a current registration sticker, clearly visible.

Going after MM patients for any reason is a colossal waste of time and tax payers money.
Meth is a much bigger problem. And I would be willing to bet that the Ice dealers are packing illegal guns too.
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

Carrying a registered Machete around may not be the best idea after reading this recent article.

Some of the biggest Ice dealers here in Hawaii may be prison guards and or under cover police.

Damn. I was looking forward to the awkward silence that occurs when pot smokers find themselves looking towards the NRA for help. The popcorn was ready to be popped and everything.

It still looks like you won't get a new permit if you're a registered MM patient. They're just not currently going after those already in possession of permitted firearms. At least that's what I got from the links someone previously posted. Besides, you'd have to lie on the Federal form to qualify to purchase and risk prison in doing so. This is from the revised form which was effective January 16, 2017. ATF form 4473 section/question 11(e):
quote:
Are you an unlawful user, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant or narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?
Warning:
The use or possession of marijuana remains unlawful under Federal law regardless of whether it has been legalized or decriminalized for medical or recreational purposes in the state where you reside.

It looks like the Federal form was revised to specifically address the legal marijuana issue.
