A so called "noxious weed" amaranth grows wild on Oahu taste good if you boil it then put a little mayonnaise on it. Every time I go to Kona I bring over and broadcast over but don't grow. Don't like "acid air"?? Same thing with pigweed.

Hitch hikers are a legume - they stick to your trousers and are nitrogen fixers . They are yummy and can be steamed or boiled or eaten raw . Many find this weed annoying - we add the hitch hiker seeds like Velcro into as many meals as we can , We reward the grand kids in collecting them and are now planting them along the inside fence lines - even the goats avoid them .The flowers are also pretty.
