dan d: what experience do u get that pot doesnt help pain but opiates do???.?.?
Response:
Regrettably, there is a lack of high-quality data that shows marijuana for most medical purposes is both safe and effective. What little evidence exists is of poor quality....
This statement is from the following link
Medical Marijuana: Where is the evidence? and is a point author Alex Berenson made in his interview with Joe Rogan. This link cites a lot of stats.
If people want to relieve pain without opiates (they have an extraordinary capacity to relieve pain), maybe they should be using CBD, the cannabis derivative that does not get you high. If marijuana-based chemicals do help with pain, that will work as well as normal marijuana.
But generally most people
use pot are not content with that--they want to get high too.

My 2 cents (Opiates are) EXTREMELY PHYSICALLY ADDICTIVE!!
Opiates are indeed addictive, but many millions of people have used mild versions like Vicodin without becoming addicted. The total opiates addiction rate is way less than 50%; it's probably less than 15%. And most of the hardcore addiction is caused primarily by dangerous street drugs, e.g., heroin.
Intoxicating drugs are a difficult topic. There is a lot of drug demonization going on (essential to any war on drugs).
We ought to be honest about all aspects of intoxicants, particularly now that we legalizing marijuana under the specious claims (above).
Many people, particularly the elderly, suffer from chronic pain. (Younger people, for the most part, ought to “man-up” with their pain issues. They are more capable of it.) There is a role for mild opiate use for people with chronic pain issues.
