EW have you tried high doses of vit C? I did 2k mg every few hours. Within a day and half the CV was gone.
Anyone think they got it already?

True, but we also know people are much improved from getting plasma transfusions from people who have recovered from covid so anitbodies persist for at least some people. Big questions do remain however over how common is a robust, or weak, immune response and how long does the immunity last (weeks, months, years, forever? Any of these seem possible and likely differs across individuals) https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-ne...r-n1178436

Any possibility you could be deficient in D or zinc?
It is possible of course but I take triple the RDA of D and get zinc in a multi vitamin. Who knows how well vitamins work though? What I do know is that every cold I've ever had was accompanied by runny nose and sore throat, (there was none, zero mucus) and I haven't had the flu in more than 5 years but I remember what they were all like in the past. This one felt WAY different.

Update: I have recovered from whatever it was. I called Hilo Medical to ask if antibody tests would be available and the Nurse had no clue if or when those tests might be available. She said that the flu was going around too. But this wasn't like any flu I've ever had. My guts were churning and bloated for days after that first brutal night. I had headaches , intense , but no fever. Strange aches all over. Abdomen, chest and other random muscles had strange aches. Weakness, shortness of breath, coughing. A little Phlegm that was hard to cough up. Usually in the past if I got flu my wife caught it too. But not this time. She had 0 symptoms and we are in very close contact with each other constantly which makes me suspicious. I really want to know if I had it or not. I read the article where people that had recovered had low antibody count and they don't know how long antibodies might remain in your bloodstream. Anyone else know anything about the antibody testing? If there is Any testing in Hawaii county? Or if there may be? Aloha, KW
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

Of those tested, very few (a couple of percent) turn out to actually have the virus.

Following the notion that maybe covid19 has been around longer than suspected...
https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/New-...194436.php New signs suggest coronavirus was in California far earlier than anyone knew “The virus was freewheeling in our community and probably has been here for quite some time,” Dr. Jeff Smith, a physician who is the chief executive of Santa Clara County government, told county leaders in a recent briefing. How long? A study out of Stanford suggests a dramatic viral surge in February. But Smith on Friday said data collected by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, local health departments and others suggest it was “a lot longer than we first believed” — most likely since “back in December.” It's hard to imagine that sort of data analysis already happening in Hawaii. Hopefully we'll catch up... at least when we get antibody tests..

The Trevor Bedford series of tweets reposted by Nate Silver today contradict the idea that California got the virus early.
Nate Silver Retweeted Trevor Bedford @trvrb There is a lot of Twitter chatter surrounding a rumor that circulation of #COVID19 in California in fall 2019 has resulted in herd immunity. This is empirically not the case. COVID-19 was first introduced into the USA in Jan/Feb 2020. 1/18 11:09 AM · Apr 12, 2020·Twitter Web App 3.1K Retweets 6.3K Likes Trevor Bedford @trvrb · 7h Replying to @trvrb We have a couple good sources of evidence here: (1) direct testing of @seattleflustudy samples collected in Jan and Feb 2020 and (2) phylogenetic evidence showing genetic relationships of sequenced viruses. 2/18 Trevor Bedford @trvrb · 7h For (1), the @seattleflustudy has gone back and tested retrospective samples collected between Jan 1 and March 10 in our research assay. These samples were collected as part of our study of respiratory infections in the Seattle area. 3/18 Trevor Bedford @trvrb · 7h All samples were from individuals suffering acute respiratory infection with a subset having influenza-like illness. Individuals with undiagnosed COVID-19 should be picked up with these symptom criteria. 4/18 Trevor Bedford @trvrb · 7h We tested 3600 samples collected in Jan 2020 for COVID-19 status and found zero positives. We tested 3308 samples collected in Feb 2020 and found a first positive on Feb 21 with a total of 10 samples testing positive in Feb. 5/18 Trevor Bedford @trvrb · 7h Additionally, we confirmed that these samples from acute respiratory infections from Oct 2019 through Feb 2020 contained a variety of different viruses including influenza, RSV, rhinovirus, metapneumovirus and seasonal coronavirus. 6/18 Trevor Bedford @trvrb · 7h As you may know, seasonal coronaviruses are responsible for ~30% of common colds and are easily distinguished from #SARSCoV2 (the virus responsible for COVID-19) in molecular assays. There is no chance of confusion between these in our assay. 7/18 Trevor Bedford @trvrb · 7h It's empirically true that the Seattle flu season in Oct through Jan was not the result of COVID-19. We would have seen it in these data. Given travel connections between WA and CA there is no way that COVID-19 was widely circulating in CA, but we see zero cases in WA. 8/18 |
