Since I work a hop and skip away at Kealakehe Intermediate, I thought I would talk to some people about this issue. I happened to speak with some people who were "personally involved" with this situation. They told me that the parent acted completely out of control at the ceremony. Piperman has also ruined any chance of future ceremonies, which I feel is very sad. Piperman, you have extremely overreacted and need to understand Hawaii schools and children before you begin to act so rashly. I believe paremts should be involved in their childrens schooling, but you have acted ridiculously in this situation and hope you have learned some things. I feel so sorry for your child and hiope this will not happen again in the future.

Aloha...
Nope you got it wrong......I was in the rear of the room well away from the kids ...had a talk with principal n police took maybe 2 min..no one in earshot n no raised voices ...the kids were asking my son what happened none of them knew . there was no commotion I did not wish a confrontation so the officers and I walked out to hallway..if there was any out of control I would have been in jail and this would have been bad memories for all...Stop the lies n bull ....Well I guess I should expect it from some sorts.....

I wanted to encourage parents to become more involved with the schools , both the schools and Keiki will benefit ..
All parents needed to be invited to a graduation best done at the school cafeteria.A SEPERATE EVENT, The celebration party with teachers n students only I hope continues ..The feedback I heard from Keiki they had a great time at the party... I firmly believe Graduation is Parent Stuff . BUT
I have been told many times since my letter, Here in hawaii the problems and issues that come up trying to stage an event with parents and family ,Are next to impossiable to do because of disfunctional family members in great numbers that show up and cause untold problems. That is the real reason for the shift in direction for Graduation ceremonies .. I agree this has to be safe for all , but I am sad as Graduation seems to be a Tried and Discarded Idea now..Wow has society changed that much.... ,Mahalo

I don't see the need or value of attacking people personally here.
Knock it off please.

My eighth grade graduation was so fun I still remember it...I grew up in Buffalo, New York. It was a big deal to us.

Growing up in Central Mass we had 6th grade graduation (grammar school)and then 9th grade(junior high), both were celebrated with no parents, all for the kids and teachers. I played the violin in band with my new dress, mom made specifically for the 6th grade,[

] and she took
before pictures. Most of the teachers took photo's and if we were lucky, and budgets allowed, were able to buy copies. All was fun and had by all.
