Speaking of factual information, residents of Hilo WISH they received only 95 inches or rain annually. The annual average at the airport is more than 126 inches:
http://www.prh.noaa.gov/hnl/hydro/pages/...ytd_12.gif
(The map gives the 2008 end-of-the-year figures for various stations Ð look for the "norm" section).
And it only gets wetter the further mauka you go, as Waiakea Uka averages 180 inches and Piihonua 190 inches. The wettest place on the island is located on the slopes of Mauna Kea above Hilo at an elevation of 2,500-3,000 feet (not shown on the map) and averages more than 250 inches per year.
Interestingly (to me, anyway), some years back the number for Hilo was reduced from more than 130 inches because it represents a 30-year running average, and rainfall there has been down slightly in recent years.

Holy cats, Mr Bull !!! That's a difference of over 23% !!!
I guess we need to redo your calculation malolo, make that 126.27 for Hilo and 170.00 for Mt. View, the third wettest listed on the map! That's a difference of 35%![ ][ ][ ]

I just don't get this, where one guy gets scrutinized beyond belief for an unimportant comment that should have been left for what it was. I have invested in lots of areas, and if any of you or some broker wants to give some comment about it, who cares? So now every broker has to be identically neutral on everything? Can people form their own thoughts and original comments based on the collection of their own experiences? Has ANYONE on this forum been held to such a standard?
How tiring.

Ha! I stand corrected, John.
Thanks for straightening me out!
Funny. For some reason, that old saying "No rain, no rainbows," suddenly springs to mind.
My guess (and this is purely speculation, you understand) is that those lucky folks with the additional sprinkles probably get 35% more Rainbows, Silver-linings, and accompanying Pots-o-gold as well!
Which is why (and again, I hate to draw hasty unfounded conclusions), I imagine folks up in that neck of the woods are 35% more likely to be pleasant and well-adjusted, happy-go-lucky, go-with-the-flow, neighborly, and just-plain-nice than all us nasty ol' curmudgeons down here nearer to sea level where I've always lived! I understand that your posting was purely speculative and written as the "glass half full" but from the point of the "glass half empty" you might want to check out "Seasonal Affective Disorder" aka SAD. Based on that theory if people in rainy areas are grumpy than people in an area of 35% more rain are 35% more likely less pleasant, less well-adjusted, less happy-go-lucky, less go-with-the-flow, less neighborly, and less just-plain-nice, meaning 35% more grumpier.
(Again, it's just a theory.)[:o)][:o)][:o)]

Isn't "Bullwinkle" a protected trademark?

but arent we straying off topic, rain, trade marks .....
I checked .... there are others including businesses using bullwinkle without trademarks if its an issue for you.
this post directed at ethics and professionalism btw
I have been thinking as to the responsibility of websites to newbies looking for advice and referrals -
Like what if a web allowed an incompetent vender to operate on same - owner liable? - and if there was gain involved - conspiracy? and before we get all wound up these are not accusations, rather what if's
Like I said I ponder a lot.
Ill get some legal input over the weekend, will be hanging with lawyers - post questions if interested Ill pass em along and post ay answers may get on a new topic
I also think there may need to be some disclaimers in order , certainly would be helpful to the newbies and clear out some of the confusion. Knowing who is here to sell and who is here to play would help me...... and the newbies
see you monday
