Hopefully it stays up. Lightning strikes are causing all sorts of problems at the summit.

Wow PM2. Once in my life I had a similar experience in Denver, Colorado. The storms roll off the Rockies and hit the flat lands above Denver extending toward Nebraska and drop their load in an often spectacular fashion near the bench areas and beyond. A lot of big hail and always a lot of lightning. On the night I'll never forget, we watched from our lanai as the lightening/storm rolled across the valley toward downtown Denver. Then all of a sudden we heard a loud crack, the hair stood up on my neck, and then we saw lightening arching from our TV to the metal fireplace surround. It was like you see in the movies with the van-de-graff generators. It was an amazing scary experience, one I'll never forget.

Hopefully you didn't experience any permanent damage to your electrical system. Glad no one got hurt.

You don't say!

Lots of lightning, power flickering on and off, house shaking.

Pretty exciting weather!

To quote an old Alaskan mountain man friend of mine... who has passed on."I haven't had this much fun, since the hogs ate my little brother."

What a night. Chiller/compressors failing all over summit. Most recovered only to have more power outages which tripped them again. One or two just said "what's the point?" and gave up but a little bit of effort got them working again. Unfortunately, one or two instruments warm up much faster than they cool down, but we managed to prevent that happening. I think. Some systems are definitely not quite as healthy as they were 24 hours ago, including myself.

Time for bed...
