For those that are still looking, Foodland Keaau was well-stocked with mosquito repellents this evening. They weren't cheap, but they're there.

"...Foodland Keaau was well-stocked with mosquito repellents..."
Didn't see any spray repellent in stock at my stops in Hilo today. Meant to stop at Foodland Keaau and check there, but in my eagerness to get home it slipped my mind. I regreted that during my stop at the county water spigots in Mountain View. I could have used it then and there. Turns out there were quite a few mosquitoes buzzing around there in the dark this evening. Seems such a location could be an ideal spot for transmission.

The Orchidland General Store had a whole bunch of repellents and coils when I visited them Saturday evening. However, they have moved all of them behind the counter, so you have to ask. Not sure why they would do that unless people were stealing them.
Went there a few months ago looking for batteries and couldn't find any, so I asked. They had batteries but they were locked up in some hidden cage and you had to get staff assistance to buy them. Make of that what you will...

amazon... has various brands of pump spray repellent with Deet. I bought a bunch of the 100% stuff. Have discovered that it really works, hardly need to use more than 2 pumps to cover you. Nothing has been bothering me!
i know.. DOH says don't use the 100% stuff on your skin, but what's the difference if one uses a bunch of 30% or a small amount of 100% to cover yourself?

Tomk, items like batteries, coils, and repellents are not bought with E.B.T cards. Most folks in these parts of Puna couldn't afford such luxury items, some will resort to stealing them. Good luck preventing dengue out here in puna especially if the poor can't get any preventive help, jmo. The entire lunch program is free at pahoa high, that should tell some Of you how the Majority are getting by in Puna? If they can't afford bus rides or meals for their kids, then how they going to buy expensive coils or repellants so the kids don't get bit by the dengue carrying mosquitoes?

Pog, you b*st*rd, quit hogging all the spray. Stopped by there a few times over the past month, sold out every time, yesterday included.
I have plenty of coils. Enough to fabricate a smoking suit if I wanted.
