Clearly this is all just so incomprehensibly inconvenient for our Puna Boomerticks. However, younger generations, after you're gone, should have more time to enjoy the planet you've trashed. As a direct result of all of this Puna-wide and worldwide demand destruction, we may just get yet another extension of our very limited time. "The Mother" works in mysterious ways. Has the left abandoned climate science? Calling Greta...

Incomprehensible, yes, you’ve hit the nail on the head. We were told our neighbors in Puna have to do without food and medical care, and can easily feed themselves for $3.00. Because there’s just no money in the budget, gotta break out the chainsaws which did prove their worth after the Kona Low recently, but also were shown ineffective as the tool best implemented when determining who should keep their job, and who might be redundant.
Now it appears as if by magic, $1.5 trillion has been discovered in the ethers to fund death and destruction? Have people only become capable of counting their own money? Utterly incapable of determining the value of math, food, and health?

So basically this is your thesis?
I would only note that Zorg was a much smarter and more successful businessman.
This probably is a really good moment for Punatics to go solar, before the cost of solar panels and shipping to Hawaii catches up with the price of oil.

No, not terribly inconvenient for me. I was thinking more so for the younger generations you've referenced. BTW there's been very little demand destruction so far in the US, according to our energy secretary. Your final question makes no sense. Is commenting on the local and global chaos, along with a rising cost of living, caused by the rapidly rising price of oil somehow abandoning climate science? No, of course not. Most countries worldwide have already committed a great deal of effort at decarbonization. We've been more slowly heading in that direction, only to foolishly pivot away with the current administration.

So, what you are saying is that after decades of trying virtually every civil, levelheaded, incentivized, cooperative, bi-partisan, technology driven, outside of the box thinking and spearheading worldwide environmental accords, and even suggesting we wear sweaters as well as dozens of other ways to change and see meaningful long term reductions on fossil fuel use and dependency that would lead to real environmental and climate change, was all just a big mistake, but a starting another war, after being promised no more wars, in the middle east, killing our sons and daughters, that immediately drives the price of oil up sky high is the answer to instill real "demand destruction" of fossil fuels to give younger generations more time to enjoy the planet trashed by the very boomer who has in the majority, done everything mentioned above and then try turn it into climate science abandonment by the left, complete with another dig at Greta?
That's sure is some good old fashioned warped Punatik thinking - as well as what one can only say comes from a true-blue Gen Xer! Has multiple passports holding Tang Jr. enlisted yet?

Our Hawaii County Democratic overlords have made certain to either not allow commercial development in Puna, or to make it so difficult to open a business that we all "drive to Hilo" instead. Ironic that those Democratic Party overlords also run around crying about "climate change" while resisting any efforts that could make a difference. Think of the thousands of gallons of fuel used and the emissions from those burnt fuels every single day by people forced to "drive to Hilo".

Please stop referring to them as "Democrat", it's just good old-fashioned greed with a side helping of inertia -- those "overlords" have discovered that they will continue to draw salaries and benefits even if they don't do any actual work.
It's disingenuous to complain that everything is a "drive to Hilo" -- the lack of commercial development in Puna isn't a secret -- look no further than the PCDP, published 18 years ago: it's a blueprint for keeping everything right where it is.

Going out on a limb here I know, but I'd have to say the root cause of having made it certain to either not allow commercial development in Puna, or to make it so difficult to open a business is more so at the feet of the NIMBY's versus any one political party.

Methinks that's silly, Dude.
In my heyday.. when I participated in that sort of thing, up in Volcano, it wasn't the "Hawaii County Democratic overlords" that set community policy but the community at large, and especially those of us that participated in it through what was then the fledgling Community Association. For instance we, not the county, not one or another political party, but residences of the community, set standards,.. such as banning commercial development in areas we felt it would have a negative effect on our community..
Now, if you're suggesting that the majority of the community is/was Democratic leaning, well maybe you're right. But the party, and the county, had nothing to do with our choices.
Of course, maybe your statement has more to do with your world view that the world you're viewing, eh?
