quote:Me too, so much. So technically the island wasn't the purgatory, they just made up flash sideways world for purgatory to avoid having the island be it.
I wish the ending was a lot more clever too. Especially after denying the island was a form a purgatory for so long.
Honestly, the inconsistencies in the island story would work best if they could be put down to a Jacob's ladder type extended vision. The Flash Sideways doesn't even work as a collective purgatory, not the whole thing, not if you analyze it. Not to mention that it told stories of people who weren't in the departure lounge -- Charlotte, Daniel, Miles, Eloise, Widmore, Chang, Liam, Alex, Danielle, non-existent David ... and poor Arzt, he was on the flight and in the FS, but left out of the kool kids again.
I definitely had some emotional moments, and enjoyed Hurley's new job, and Ben as #2, but the battle bewtween Smokie and Jack was anti-climactic, and Desmond never behaved lid a fail safe ... he FAILED, and no one was safe, there's a difference.
I can only imagine how disappointed people were who still believed it would wrap things up or give us an awesome twist. Lucky for me, I was watching it enough as a comedy that I laughed out loud when Sun and Jin acquired English, when they got out the duct tape to fix the plane, and when Jack was trying to put that stone ... plug ... back in the orifice. That was almost camp.
I did tear up when Sawyer and Juliet reunited and when Jack died.
I hope I can rewatch my DVD's without feeling bummed. At least the scenery is epic.
