I am not obsessed with Pele. Hate to play with fire. Run from conflagration. Have no fascination with anything that burns, stings or incinerates.
But right now she is just sort of swelling and burning and spewing. Not overflowing. There's a kind of catch-basin thingy. There's molten stuff that looks like it is about to reach the very lip where this could come flowing down to the sea, but I don't think she is there yet! More pistonning! More work to do here! Nose! Meet grindstone! Back to work! I hold you in a steam!

If you haven't checked the webcam lately there isn't much crater left in Pu'u O'o. As of right now the webcam has an amazingly clear shot of the disappearing rim, and at night the lava in the little craters is very visible.

So far only a few eliminated but our dates are all coming soon!
7/31 8/1 - most popular choice! 8/6 8/8 8/15 8/30 and trailing behind 9/5.

Well my expected grand baby came this morning, instead of 8/1, so it looks like I was wrong on both dates. My current guess is tonight or tomorrow night.

quote:I have a question to those who don't live in zone 3.How you can be so excited about the lava going your way? Have another house ,not a big deal to lose one?

Even those of us who live in zone 3, like me, aren't truly safe.

If you read the lava reports, flows from this event are likely to run into the national park, THIS time.
This is the relationship you have with it when you live on the flank of the world's most productive volcano. I have only one home, and on a Hawaii teacher's salary this is my single greatest asset. But what am I going to do, fret and worry over a geologic event I have no control over that was already here and active when I moved onto its side? Carol
