As long as they can keep collecting tax money they will continue to pretend the illegally created subdivisions work just fine
The vast "private" subdivisions are working just fine: each has its own internal Association drama which keeps everyone busy, that way nobody has time or attention span for the larger problems.

The membership does not have the power to make the AG get involved or to punish violations of the law.
Members in the past have tried reaching out to the AG. Response was that they have a small staff of employees and advised members to seek like minded individuals, pool their $ and hire an atty.
As for Katarina's comments about flyingsurfer...he puts himself out there in a way that attracts this kind of bad attention. His demeanor at meetings shows lack of control. In his defense of certain board reps, he's been out of line towards members. He's been confrontational towards me a few times now, unprovoked at board and membership mtgs. He's a big guy w/a big voice trying to intimidate others including small females. Hope you'll rein in that temper at future meetings flyingsurfer. There's no excuse for that kind of behavior.
Yes all board's seem to have their problems. Remnants of the board from the 2014-2015 group that fired the 3 employees in one fell swoop have taken it to a whole other level most of us have never seen. That's what happens when there's no accountability exerted by their peers.
It's the board's responsibility to rein in rogue board members who retaliate against members and continuously make a mockery of our bylaws and policies. These kinds of people bring liability to the association. Hence the lawsuit we're in and now the arbitration.
That's why the bylaws and conduct policy has provisions for the board to take action against peers who are rogue. Members don't have the same provisions other than a recall or arbitration. For unknown reasons, the majority board looks the other way. This makes them all culpable except for the one board member who always speaks up for the membership.

For crying out loud. Rob, can you just lock this thread up and request these people move their personal arguments to another, more private forum? I think HPP issues are a legitimate thing to discuss on PW, but this is now well beyond discussing issues and has become far too personal.
PS. Thanks, Kenney, for the voice of sanity.

TomK...members try to work together at meetings and you have this level of ill behavior going against members in the name of defending a board member or two. It's this kind of behavior that brings down the meetings and chases other members away from returning.
Members should attend meetings to get informed and vote when applicable. The attendance level is very poor because of members who behave this way towards others! It's very unfortunate.

I'm not going to attend meetings knowing people like you are going to launch into personal attacks on PW about what happened. You are driving people away from meetings, not encouraging them to attend.

See above. This is probably the desired effect.
Members in the past have tried reaching out to the AG. Response was that they have a small staff of employees and advised members to seek like minded individuals, pool their $ and hire an atty.
Is this happening? No? Woudn't it solve the problems once and for all? Again, the dysfunction serves County quite well.

I'm with Tom, Mermaid. There is WAY too much emphasis on the people involved. "Rescue, persecute, victim " AD NAUSEAM .
I assume that ALL board members are fairly decent human beings.
If the board as a WHOLE does not follow State statutes and bylaws, then the Board AS A WHOLE violates.......no good guys, to me, unless they go on record as opposed to the violation and join the arbitration . No good guys in the eyes of the law !
I served on a Board in Kona......voted to uphold our bylaws. I and 2 others were voted down.
I WAS SUED ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE BOARD.

Who's calling the kettle black here? All you have to do is go back and look at your posts...nothing constructive, attack posters, yes. You have a lot to comment about on all the various threads, daily. HPP Biz is just another hit and run thread.
At least there are people who care enough in HPP and put their money where their mouth is. And literally money. Sitting behind a computer and cyber bullying posters accomplishes nothing.
Reni, it almost sounds like you're encouraging the minority board members to resign to avoid being dragged into lawsuits. Resign like 6 did in 2014-2015 because of the bylaw breaking and the bullying by their peers? Give up? I'm glad there are some of us that don't think that way.
I commend the lone voices on the board who fight against the rough currents and risk bullying by their peers because they know what's going on and care enough to try and make a difference for all of us. They need our support, not indifference. HPP needs all of our support, not indifference.
How about being part of the solution and put action behind your words and show up at board and membership meetings? Try and make a difference with the others who are in the trenches...we need to take back our association from this bylaw policy breaking group of people.

Per the very long thread above, going to meetings, voting, and insisting that the Board follow their Bylaws also accomplishes nothing.

There is arbitration on the table by those that put action behind their words...so your assessment is incorrect.
