A little birdie whispered in my ear… "if you go to

https://csc.hawaii.gov/CFSPublic/ReportList.php

and put the name of your local political candidate in the search field and then when the ‘Candidate List' comes up click on their name you’ll get to a list of their financial filings, including 'Contributions Received,' for every six months, and it goes back to the first time they filed regardless of how many years ago that was.”

You might find this to be an eye opening experience in that it tells a different story than the news, than the opinions here and elsewhere, than the images the candidates project in ads and at forums, and one that I suspect is much closer to the truth of who they are, and whose opinions, positions, they represent. It is interesting to go through their history and see who they have attracted and especial who has supported them with repeat donations over the years. In some cases you can see how single interests break up larger donations into ones from husband and wife and even in their children’s names, and if you know the business interest of the family it’s impressive.

As one reviews these documents many things become clear. Local money verses money from outside. Mom and pop verses corporate, pro verses anti for all the issues etc., all paint a picture that has nothing to do with the cute little sign waiving scenes we witness on the side of the road. The old adage “follow the money” is an especially poignant phase when applied here.

I strongly recommend this exercise to anyone interested in getting closer to the truth about Russell and Greggor, it may very well change your opinion. Especially Greggor, OMG, suffice it to say the bulk of his money ain’t all that local, and isn't mom and pop.

I have always been very fond of that little birdie Wink

Calling the kettle black.

https://csc.hawaii.gov/Report/RPT2015/20...860SA.html two thirds of his money contributed is from out side the district. The hypocrisy is so thick her you have to cut it with a chain saw. The so called 99% backing the millionaire attempting to buy an election.

OMG !! Total Loans at the Closing of this Reporting Period $51,254.64 all from one rich individual representing one corporation.

Mom and Pop, give me a break!

I suspect the little birdie whispering in your ear is a turkey.

Thank you gypsy69. And wow, BillyB, OMG is right, as in who’s this "one rich individual representing one corporation” of which you speak? You make it sound so sinister, so taboo. When All I find is evidence that Russell himself lends the money to his campaign. As per the record…

Is there something wrong with this? Is it immoral for Russell to lend the campaign money? To support his own cause? Or am I misunderstanding something?

Great question.....call a spade a spade. Is it immoral for Russell the owner of island naturals to "lend" his campaign money?

Getting near the end of the third quarter. The score remains a statistical dead heat. Greggor's engine appears to be sputtering...with Russell right in sight. It's going to go down to the wire. Get out and vote!

I can more easily accept someone paying his own way to run for office than selling his vote to the highest bidder. Greggor chose to jump into this race against an incumbent, he has chosen to beat the bushes on Oahu to get campaign donations, and now his surrogates are trying to make Ruderman putting his own money where his mouth is out to be some nefarious scheme.

Even for someone with far more life experience than Greggor the jump from county councilor to state senator is a far leap, for someone who has really only had one job, as Hawaii county councilor, and hasn't been earth shaking at that, it is a huge leap. Ruderman has over 200 employees, he has run a successful business and continues to do so while serving as state senator, he has raised a 3 daughters and is raising another. He knows what it is like to pay bills, save for his kid's educations, and keep a roof over his family's head.

If Greggor had done something with his life outside of politics, if he had a family to support, or a mortgage to pay, I would have more respect for his life experience and ambition, but I just don't see him having done enough in his life to deserve this promotion. The kid needs to grow up and get some life experience first, so he can relate to what all of us working, bill paying, citizens go through on a daily basis, then he can come back and ask to serve his community in such an important position, until then all he has is shaka and sign waving skills, naked ambition, a few friends in high places, and no understanding of what being an adult is really about. In fact, Greggor seems to devote so little time to his job as county councilor that he can make sign waving an almost full time job for months. That tells me a lot about his priorities.

I voted for him twice, I wouldn't have even voted for him for county councilor again, much less state senator, this time around.

Yeah, like that.

I don't have a problem with him spending his own money.

I was just pointing out it is disingenuous to make an issue of getting money from outside the district, like that is some crime,
when most of the money he has from the district is his own.
Ruderman is the one who is making an issue of it, I just called him on it.
