Mahalo terracore,
Couldn't agree more about the similarities to Iniki up to this point. Hilda may approach, then stall against maunaloa and maunakea as hilda won't be able to make it over the mountains summits. Some subdivisions here in Puna may see 20-30 inches of rain by sunday. Pohoiki, kapoho, and kalapana are places to avoid during the worst of Hilda. For The storm surge and wave combination may be unpredictable on the right quadrant of Hilda, jmo.

Oh boy, I'm not going there. Just too many options and too many people to offend. This could get messy!

looks like I got my honda 2000 just in time. Hope I don't have to use it, but damn, after losing power for 2 weeks last year, it will be nice to keep the fridge, ceiling fans, lights and cellphone charged.
Hopefully it will somehow be pushed further south and we will once again get lucky!

those comparing this small almost not hurricane (Hilda) to a major hurricane like Iniki are just fear mongering....
Iniki came in from the south directly to Kauai, and far far stronger!!!!!

Still, in watching Hilda the wind shear has given her some hits in the last 24, but she still has that core that keeps rebuilding after each hit. Time to shutter the unused windows for now to get a head start if need be.

The 8 a.m. intermediate advisory has revised max wind down to 75 mph, just barely a hurricane:

This is good news, but no reason to stop preparations.

Looks like weather wars to me and the bad guys are being held off at this point.
