Must opinions be substantiated? (TMT examples)
#61
Well another leg of the TMT's, military and contractors road has been finished and it looks wide enough for the 50 ft TMT pieces to be brought up by trucks. TMT construction should TRY to begin sometime this next early spring.

This road project has received over 300 million of fed dollars and our islands public was not the intended users for this finished road. These types of large ongoing projects is a big reason why the late contested case hearing was never intended to be a fair process in the first place.
The decisions for the TMT project to be developed on the summit of Mauna Kea were made by a few connected a decade or more ago and it did not matter how many Hawaiians were to appose the TMT project. jmo

Would the TMT project be happening on Mauna Kea IF the Hawaiians were recognized people or given back their nation, land and rights?

How is the ROD doing on the Kona side now?

Secret Menehune bunker, full of advanced ancient weaponry. They have widened saddle road for their return to power. Cower in fear, pretenders and trolls!

Is the US military in cahoots? Are the Menehune polluting our aquifers? Do they plan on helicopter tourism of the summit? We can assume yes.

(PS these facts are an opinion so I don't have to substantiate them.)

The decisions for the TMT project to be developed on the summit of Mauna Kea were made by a few connected a decade or more ago and it did not matter how many Hawaiians were to appose the TMT project.

The decisions to create massive unimproved "private" "agricultural" subdivisions were made by a few well-connected people some decades ago, and it did not matter if that land was sacred to anyone.

Guess what? All substantial decisions are made by a "few, well-connected" people.

How is the ROD doing on the Kona side now?

ROD has reached Kohala, so is now present everywhere on the Big Island.

(I know, waste of effort to be factual. JMO.)

And then it turns out they have problems discerning the difference between “substantiate” and “prove.” I find that even funnier.

Here is the definition for the word unsubstantiated (with a link for anyone who would like to... well you know, confirm it's true):
Definition of unsubstantiated:
not proven to be true:not substantiated, an unsubstantiated rumor/report

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictiona...stantiated

When I said some posters make unsubstantiated comments on Punaweb, comments that were not proven to be true, that is what I meant to say.

Now the question becomes, what is, or is not an opinion? I think 1)we can all agree without any argument whatsoever that 2)an opinion is a view held by someone which is not based on any factual evidence, and 3)can be recognized, somewhat like pornography, in that you will know it when you see it. There, a perfect trilogy of opinions, all wrapped into a single worthless sentence.

not proven to be true ... you will know it when you see it

While somewhat subjective, this is probably the most truth.

Let's take it further....

Opinion: 1) A belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge, a generally held view 2) a view, judgement, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter 3) a formal statement by an expert after careful study.

Opinionated: obstinately adhering to personal opinions; unduly adhering to one's own opinion to preconceived notions.

I didn't realize that metaphysics and the philosophy of language was such an interesting topic for punatalkers.

From my observations nothing's been out of bounds on PT.

Except for things unrelated to Puna which the administrator has and will lock up.

Well at least we know that the TMT Highway project did not help spread the ROD to the Kona side.

Sure glad the many trucks and heavy machine equipment used for or on the project were washing down their tires or tracks with bleach after being around or in the ROD infected areas.
