Hawaii Life

No Mimosa, you've got it wrong.

I am well aware of the nuances of the island, its why I am moving there in the first place.

I have a cottage I am staying in Orchidland for a few months while I am looking.

No internet.

Oneself, I for one look forward to seeing you on Hawaii Life (even tho' I don't know you) I know the show is scripted, but it's still fun to watch.
There's also another show called "Buying Hawaii" (on Destination America channel) that's a LOT different than "Hawaii Life". The mistakes they make are truly entertaining. All the shows they have on the Big Island DO portray it as being constantly overrun by lava and the places where the lava's cooled, are bugs that will kill you or at least make your life a miserable hell.
Oh wait....hmmmmm....maybe those parts ARE true [}Smile]

One Self Person - you do realize that your 200K is only worth 89K hea if dat.
Also no need a real estate person, just do your own through escrow and seller n buyer save thousands.

The market in Puna is close to identical to here in South Florida. You get a little less house and much more land in Puna though.

Imagine take 150k house in Puna, and then put them side by side with only 10 feet space in between houses. Thats south florida. No peace, no quiet.

everything else is similar. Weather, rain, palm trees, tropics. Just choke houses and people living on top of each other.

Hi! We are buying a house hopefully by fall! I contacted Hawaii life twice and they never got back to me. Seems like it would be interesting for them to show people like us who are a huge family and have a very small budget. But maybe they dont think so Smile

Go to this site http://www.hawaiilife.com and get in touch with Glen R. Foreman Realtor,I've been on his list for 4 yrs (LOL) looking at the homes available, he's the only one who let me stay on their MLS watch list all the other Agencies stopped sending. A nice guy to talk to and set me up with a BOA mortgage fellow for a pre-approval paper when and if I ever get ready.
Good luck.....

Instead of dealing with a huge brokerage covering all the islands, why don't you go local. We use:

Christi L Mallicoat ®, BROKER, ABR, GRI, SFR, e-PRO, GREEN, AHWD, CIPS, SRS
Aloha Coast Realty, LLC
Cell (808)756-2079
Office (808)965-9903
Email hawaiichristi@yahoo.com
Website www.hawaiibuyrealestate.com

We are both agents in Cali and she is the best.
Someone has to pay for that Hawaii Life show and that is you if you use them!!!!

thats not how real estate profits work.

seller pays 6% regardless who is the agents unless otherwise negotiated.

Hawaii Life gets free publicity and advertising, in return for sharing footage and clients.

Hawaii Life also breaks lease agreements made by previous brokers...
I haven't yet read the entire lease agreement, but a friend of mine has a one year lease on a place through Hilo Brokers, but since Hawaii Life took over the property they gave 45 days notice to vacate, with over 6 months remaining on the lease.

Just one more example of big business putting the screws to the little guy.
