Uber on Big Island
#81
I never posted my experience from several months back. Seeing this back at the top of the list reminded me. There's one issue here that I never really experienced on the mainland, which is lack of drivers. When I went from Leilani into Pahoa town, there was only one driver, which came from HPP I think. But when I wanted to come back a few hours later, there were literally no drivers within whatever radius the application looked at. So I started walking back, hoping not to get hit by anything on 130 and also hoping it didn't rain. I was at about mile marker 12 before any vehicles showed up to drive me home. Hopefully now there are more drivers in the area, as I would definitely use it for short trips on drinking nights.

The taxis here are such a rip, I think people have just learned to do without, hence not much demand.
Hopefully that will change eventually. I still have to get neighbors to drive me to the airport but I'd rather Uber it if it was reasonable.
