Is there a good source for wood stoves on the island? If so, where? Thank you!

Be very cautious about who you use to install.

Metal stoves are better. Wood stoves can catch fire and burn your house down.

I've been in this store many times over the years, first back in 1990. It is still in business after all these years!

Hope you find what you are looking for, I did!

If you live somewhere where you really need a fire for heating, this is what we built in Chicago. It also has a wood burning oven. Beware though, it heats your house for 12 hours on one fire. There is no way to cool things off if it is too hot. www.tulikivi.com

Yogi, you may want to check out northerntools.com.Like most speciality item the local stuff is pretty expensive. Think it cost me about 2400 bucks for a small stove, pipe, roof jack etc

we use fire to heat our house.. on mauna loa approx. 4000' elevation.. and when we went to buy our wood stove.. we use about 2 cords of wood a year.. I did everything I could to avoid buying local... thinking a purchase like that I could cut a bunch off by buying on the mainland and having it shipped over.. all told I was wrong.. and I spent a lot of time figuring that out. ended up with a hearthstone stove bought at the fireplace center in hilo that is the finest wood stove I have ever had the pleasure to heat my home with. pricey.. yes.. but as I said I couldn't cut that down by doing it long distance etc. in other words the shipping kills you, regardless if you do it or they do it. and buying it here meant it was in good order.. no funny business of something becoming mine on some dock somewhere and then getting trashed in transit. good luck!

The Fireplace Store has survived this many years by providing good product and service. There are a number of events I've watched where people try to save a nickel and end up losing a buck. The lowest possible price is only rarely the best deal or as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
