RAIN
#31
A couple very light showers last night but nothing measurable up here.

...love those microclimates. 1/2 mile makai of you, we had an hour of rain today. The papaya are very happy....

YAY!!!! [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin] There was a 5 minute monsoon at my house in HPP. There is a collective sigh coming from all my plants. Now it's just a steady comfortable rain. Mahalo to all those rain dancers out there. It's been a long bout this time.

Rain seems to be coming here, yesterday it was raining hard (cats & dogs type) over on the other side.... from ~1500' up -Holualoa, upper Palisades & such... last night HWY190 was rainy up until past the Saddle turn off, drizzly until the shops in Waimea & an absolutely spectacularly clear full moonlit drive from there on... through the Hamaukua coast, Hilo & into Puna!

I hung the laundry 'cause there was some sun out...now it's raining and maybe we need to use the dryer for this load...of course it rained! Argh.

I'm happy. My livestock tanks are full and the greenhouse tanks are full. I was just about to have to haul water.

Glad to see the rain. Rain is one thing I have always appreciated here in East Hawaii.

So we all have YOU (CM ) to thank for the rain!

My question, why did you wait so long to do your laundry??? (My grass would like it if you do your laundry more often, but not too often!)

We still have not had any significant rain in central HPP. Our catchment has only come up about an inch and a half, and if I dig down a couple of inches in the garden, the soil is still bone dry. More laundry please, Carrie.

Oh thank you all you rain dancers...... here in Glenwood it has been raining for nearly an hour... not just sprinkling and not a typhoon, but raining. We were bone dry. I hauled 100 gallons in barrels and have been (with a little help from my friend Pam J) siphoning water into 4 gallon buckets, heating it, washing dishes, washing my hair.... so of course as I finished wrapping my hair in a towel the rain started. I should have done this days ago.

Oh, Carrie, we are soooo thankful for your raindance/wash the car/hang the laundry karma! It is raining up here in Glenwood. Now all I have to do is figure out how to prime the pump system.

We did our own "karma dance" by hauling water in barrels, calling a few water delivery persons, hauling water into the house bucket by bucket to wash dishes, bathe, flush, shower and such.... I shoulda done that a week ago I guess! LOL. Gosh, I just love the humor punawebbers can bring to what could become a crisis if they didn't get inventive and just roll with it.

I figure we all came here for different reasons, but we all signed on for a bit of adventure knowingly. This is, after all, the most isolated land mass in the world. We are frankly lucky that even with rainless weeks, there is a county water system that pumps all that nice fresh water from the rivers or whatever. None of us is at risk of dehydration for lack of water... we just have to work harder to get it home.

Babble babble babble... I am so glad it is raining, even if my back is killing me from hauling water. With any luck that pain pill will kick in soon...... or maybe it already has! LOL
I am just so very thankful for all we have in life, especially friends and punaweb!
