Well, there's us. Here is our work http://pacificgunite.com/pools.htm .
I am licensed. That means insured, bonded etc. There are plenty of unlicensed guys out there and most of them drifting from one crew to another because of the economy. Some are good and I would recommend, others should be avoided like the plague. Use your instinct. There are some real slippery slugs out there.

If you want another name then I would recommend that you call Ryan at 557-9195. I have hired him and his buddies on different jobs and they are fast and good. They built the skate park in Pahoa and they have worked with me on pools and even some county work.

Hello Peter,
Nice work there, we've an area that consists of a long (150') natural lava ledge about 8'-10' high and were thinking about a pool/pond/falls/garden about this terrian feature. We've some time before we get the area cleared out of small Hala/Guava etc.
In the meantime; I would like to do a decorative water cistern. Have you done anything along those lines? Something like a giant Hawaiian style vessel, stamped woven finish or what have you (around 20k gallons+).

When you described your 150' lava ledge it reminded me of Queens Bath in Kalapana. Pele reclaimed the pond back in the 1980's. I always wanted to recreate something like that. I found a couple of photos on the web: http://pubs.usgs.gov/dds/dds-80/images/J...FT_041.jpg the first one shows the pond and the second is the pond filling with lava. http://pubs.usgs.gov/dds/dds-80/images/J...FT_042.jpg What a shame, me and my family loved swimming there. It would be a fun pool to try and recreate though.

Yes, we have put decorative finishes on our tanks but unless you want to spend a bundle of money the tank should be a simple cylinder shape. I have always loved these Thai water jars http://rainwater.in/images/THA-jars-01.jpg and would love to make a large one from ferrocement. It wouldn't be cheap though.

Pete and his son (Tyler?) are going to rehab my mom's (little tiny) pool starting this week.

Update: 2/18 Pool done! Mom is happy! Cost was 1/2 of guy from Kona.

Wow, that was a lovely place, so sad to just get to see it in one photo. Hope you get to make something also wonderful.

We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our
exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the
place for the first time.
