1. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari - 1920 German silent film. Sheer artistry for the time. Like a dream within a dream. A true classic that every student should know. I first watched this in my freshman year in college.
2. Dracula 1992 - Francis Ford Coppola - This was beautifully done. Cinematography, Acting, Script and Costumes were masterful.
3. Out Of Africa 1985 - Sydney Pollack - An intelligent, romantic epic of time and place (not to be mistaken for a "chick flick"). Both beautiful and well-written. True to the novel.
4. Dances With Wolves 1990 - Kevin Costner - One of the best Westerns I've ever watched. Another sweeping epic with a simple, clean story.
5. The Lord Of The Rings (Trilogy) - 2001 - Peter Jackson - For so many reasons I adore this collection. Jackson's interpretation of a series beloved by so many was spot on. These movies have a way of carrying me away to another dimension from the first frame.
Good luck with your project - it sounds like great fun!!
