Lot purchased, ready to build questions.

I know a fella that frames, sides, does metal roofings, trims and completes the job and doesn't charge until the framing inspection passes. He's good, friendly, he's on time every time, he knows what he's doing, and reasonable rates. His name is Ken, and you can reach him at 936-4583 (he's okay with giving out his number). Hope that helps a bunch.[Smile]

Thanks Rob and Dave. Guess I was just hoping for a list and breakdown to make it easier however, followed your advise and I have just finished reading the entire building portion ........wow took a while but a wealth of information. Place my bid for some land just like Tony did and will be hearing soon on modifications I have asked about on a trojan house also. Hope to be seeing some of you puna webbers one day soon.

You might consider contaqcting member lquade... she has an AWESOME guy! His prices are unbelievably reasonable and his work quality is excellent.

I build a Trojan home and it turned out nice. Ray and Jewel, manage the Hilo store and are wonderful to work with. If you come over for a visit you are welcome to take a look at my home and I'm sure Ray could tell you who else is allowing potential clients to view their homes.

If I had it all to do over again, I'd still go with Trojan. I'd make the lanias bigger though, makes parting easier!!

Royall is right on both counts - he did a very nice house and the lanais could be larger Smile

For solar there is an electrical contractor (you need a licensed Hawaii contractor for this)
that knows his stuff and is very reasonable. He will even work with you as an owner builder so you can save a lot there. His name is Chad Kissinger at 968-8930. He was pulled my permit and I got it inspected and passed on the first try.

I'm building on a slab foundation, but the living space will be one floor up. This is necessity because my house is in a FEMA flood zone being a block away from the water and only 11 ft above sea level. I will use the lower level for storage and be able to take advantage of air circulation in the main living space. As of now I'm getting caught up in the Tojan Building Supply closure and I'm stuck in the permit process.

Tony, sorry to hear you are stuck in the permit process. Is it because of the recent announcement of Trojan or just normal slow process. I may use my son's people her on Oahu for permit process since the one that approves them comes from Oahu every week anyway maybe it can be done that way. Just a thought.
