Materials - Bamboo
#1
I am looking for small diameter (aprox. 1/4-1/2 inch) blonde bamboo. This material is to used for cabinet doors inlay. I tried the craft store in Hilo with no luck. Mahalo

How about privacy screening from the garden sections at Wallyworld or Home Depot? Try Paradise Plants near Lex Brodie in Hilo.

Not here, but taking the opportunity to put this one up ... Lots of neat stuff in the store. If you don't see it on the website, call and ask. They have lots of 'dusty shelves'

DanielP,
I looked at Paradise Plants & HD. I do not know Wallyworld? Anyhow either bamboo was too small, too large or had holes with wire running through it. Actaully, HD has small dia bamboo staking but it is too irregular and a bit small dia.

Pog,
Checked the website and it looks interesting! I will call them tomorrow. I am most concerned about the cost of shipping.

Thanks to both of you!

Susan:

'Wallyworld' is colloquial slang for Walmart.

Jerry, can you share who Leirmana is? Also, Patrick said you were really busy the last time I asked. Is that still the case? We would love to have you two see the bamboo house, see the pool Patrick did and talk about some future work here on 40th.

Much of the rolled up bamboo has wire running through (good &/or bad.... depends on your take on the wire)

There are many places on the island where you can harvest bamboo (green or just fallen are both fairly easy to find & most owners are more than happy to allow some to be trimmed)

I was at WalMart today and found just what you are looking for! At the end of the isle that has the fishing poles is a bin full of bamboo the size you are looking for! They are blond in color, but didn't think to look at the price! You'd have to pick through them to get the straightest ones but that shouldn't take too long!! Have fun,
