Academy Awards broadcast in Puna?
#1

We went over to a friend's place to watch the Oscars show on their bigscreen but though all their other cable channels are showing just fine the Academy Awards channel has a big notice saying something like "We are aware this channel is temporarily unavailable; there is no need to call, blah, blah, blah..." -Is this Puna-wide or just over at our friend's place in HPP?

wow, thanks guys, and here I thought I was recording it. It had just come back and I missed a good two hours of the show. Second that grrrr. Stoopid KITV.
It wasn't Puna only, was probably the station.

I believe Disney was trying to extort the cable companies into paying more for ABC and other channels and you know who they going pass the costs on to?? But came to a last minute agreement- I hope Cablevision didn't cave too much. I don't watch NBA,MLB, nascar, Tiger Woods, George Clooney, the Manning brothers but offroad track racing where it's at-

The high def channel wasn't getting picture, only sound. That's the one I record. It sounds like 86 was OK, per Hawaiibound. Not the first time the high def channels have had problems while the regular channel, with all its visual flaws, is fine.

as you can tell I don't watch these things though I keep up enough to know the right movie won. I heard Avatar only worth it if you see it on the real big screen with the special glasses- why should I buy eyegasses. I already have eyeglasses.

KathyH - IMAX began licensing their technology. Other theaters, eager to get in on the money, built much smaller screens because the smaller venues cost a lot less money. If you want to get the full effect of IMAX - you need to go to a real IMAX theater and pay the full IMAX price. Another case in which being cheap means you what you pay for.
