Businesses that ship to Hawaii
#1
On another topic people were talking about businesses that ship to Hawaii without costing an arm and a leg.

Here are a few I use:

Shoes.com ,I need to wear Teva sandals for the arch support and shoes.com ships 2nd day air UPS for free.

OutletPC I use for computer parts. They will ship priority mail.

Contractors depot has stainless bolts and fasteners that I could not find in Hilo. They will ship priority mail.
http://www.cdepot.org/

These are just a few that I have found.Do you have any good ones??

One of the best free shipping deals I've found is Ace Hardware online. They ship anything you order online to the local Ace for free.

2nd that for Ace ... If you've got the time Ace IS the place. Ace not always the least expensive but factoring in shipping a viola', a deal.

Pet peeve is the ones who either don't ship or have a surcharge to ship to Hi. or AK via USPS ... Please avoid these.

UPS DOES cost a bunch more to send stuff over here vs us shipping out.

aloha,
pog from the shipping dept.

Right on Pog...and taking your peeve one step further, my pet peeve is those that don't ship to HI, but don't tell you that until you've done all your shopping, registered (because its easier to register than to keep saying "not interested"), entered your credit card and then hit "complete transaction."

Amazon.com has FREE Super Saver Shipping to Hawaii on many items. We've ordered rice cookers, auto parts, watches etc. You name it. It's not just books.

I'll give you a few, not widely known tid bits. Why? I don't know but I feel compelled.lol
take it or leave it, just little bits of info.

Master Lock, one of the few AMERICAN companies that stands behind their locks 110% lifetime warrantee/guarantee. You loose a key? Break the lock? Lock it and loose the key?
No matter it's covered. You can go to Master Lock on line and download the return form. I even sent in two odd matching ones and asked for two the same, keyed alike. Two weeks later new locks. A week later a check for the $3.58 I spent on postage. MASTER LOCK da bes

Another? ok RCA makes a headset phone that has a 2 year guarantee. Only they never last much longer than a year, so they send you a new one. I'm on number 3 or 4 I forget.

http://www.hellodirect.com/hellodirect/Shop?DSP=30102&PCR=1:1:5:25&IID=21382&itemskuid=21382

The company has a year warrantee in case it goes out in the first year. And even though I'm addicted to hands free phones, i'll have to say they are junk, RCA/China now. But as long as they're covered.

And with the web and a computer there isn't anything you can't have, if you can surf.
There are companies all over the world who will pay the shipping if you are willing to look. And do good phone. i do really good phone, lol.

I had wheels and tires shipped from New Jersey, Mickey Thompsons, on 10 ply super swampers.
Years ago Hilo Truck and Trie was the only local company bringing in those big tires. They had some story the tires were in San Pedro waiting on a boat. For two months? Not. So I took my money back, canceled their order and when on line. Saved $700. and CFL delivered them to my gate, mounted, balanced and with a set of lugs. It was maybe the 4th or 5th company I found in that 15 minute search.

Talk story with the shipping people and I've actually had them waive shipping costs.
I won't tell you how I flew back home here, one time on Hawaiian with 20 pieces of extra luggage for free, times have change, lol. Knowledge is a delightful thing isn't it?
And I used to be a professional shopper, so that helps.

The one thing we order is tons of boxes and shipping supplies .... We have found Uline to be the best for this. Will ship the way you want, send free samples with alacrity, price match etc. They have ( real ) sales on various supplies throughout the year with 40-50% off. Example ... Packing tape @ Longs or HD ... 3.99+ for 30-55 yard roll ... Uline product ( Better quality ) ( edit to add : sale price .89 ), Non sale price 1.39 for 110 yard roll per min of 36 rolls with a free tape gun. We ship this stuff over Parcel Post. Wife sells the tape and gun on Craigs list sometimes.
O.K. probably not what 99.9% of you guys need but this is a good company with sharp people working.

Patagoina has seasonal sales where they deeply discount stuff. If you order the wrong size and want to return it, you order the correct size and pay for it. Then they refund your original shipping cost upon receipt of returned item.

pog

Dang Makuu, suounds like you know how to work the system ... Will you ride in my car the next time I have to fill the tank ? : )

Pog, can you use used shipping boxes? We moved over here last Nov and wanted to see if anyone could use them.

I plan on moving from Albuquerque to Fern Forest, Big Island, in about a year so I got a "practice quote" from a place called ABF U-Pack that seemed pretty reasonable if you are not moving a lot of stuff. Their container is 6x7x8, which I think you can put a lot of stuff in. Quote was $3190. I plan on only taking stuff that's relatively small that cost lots of money to replace.... PC's, table saw, tools, stereo speakers and receiver, etc. plus a bedroom set my mom built (sentimental value). It's a Door-To-Door delivery service but I guess they don't do door-to-door in Hilo so it's just door service in Albuquerque and you pick it up somewhere in Hilo. They deliver a container to your home and you put into it what you want, then you can lock it up with whatever lock you like. Sounds pretty secure. Anyway.... that's an option.
